TITI LA MAMA LI TAMU, HALISHI HAMU

This kanga was custom made for the Tanzania Breast Cancer Foundation. It was produced by Nida Textiles and designed by Histori-Kali

TBCF kanga

I have this kanga in two different color schemes: pink and white, and…

...green, pink and white

… green, pink and white

Both versions are lovely. The kanga is very special, as it is bigger, heavier and softer than most kangas on the market today. It is 3.36 meters long and 45 inches wide. I have just learned that all kangas in Tanzania used to be this long. But, starting in 2007-2008, cotton prices began soaring and kangas started shrinking. Most kangas today are 3.0 meters. All of this information, as well as the kangas come from my new friend, Amin Godil, who works at Nida.

A mother's breast is sweet, it does not lose its taste

This is the only kanga that I have seen with the Nida logo printed on the bottom.
